Numerical Simulation, Modelization, Mechanical Characterization and Micro-structural Optimization of Industrial Components
Tomás Eduardo GarcÃa Suárez
Tomás was born in Gijón in 1983. He studied Industrial Engineering and his Master of Science in the Technical College of Gijón. He is working in research since 2008, when he started to collaborate with SIMUMECAMAT trough a project for experimental and numerically analysing the biomechanical behaviour of fixation devices for the anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. His Senior Thesis, based on this work, was graduated with honours.
During these years he was collaborating in many different research projects, mainly managing the experimental part (fracture mechanics, Small Punch Test, etc.) but also supporting the numerical staff (shot peening modelling with Abaqus, computing in both Matlab and Python, etc.). He collaborated also as a lecturer on the University Master in Integrity and Durability of Materials, Components and Structures.
Currently, he is a grant holder of the Principado de Asturias Government through the Severo Ochoa program (2013-2015), and his work is focused in the developing of a Doctoral Thesis based on the estimation of both tensile and fracture mechanical properties by means of the Small Punch Test, and also the study of the hydrogen embrittlement by means of this miniature test.
