PhD Defence - Emilio Martínez Pañeda

Emilio Martínez Pañeda, predoctoral fellow at SIMUMECAMAT, will defend the 3rd of June his PhD Thesis titled Strain gradient plasticity-based modeling of damage and fracture. His work has been supervised by Professor Betegón and the defence will take place in the boardroom at 12:00 a.m. The members of the PhD Committe will be Prof. Cristina Rodríguez (University of Oviedo), Prof. José Fernández-Sáez (Universidad Carlos III Madrid) and Prof. Viggo Tvergaard (Technical University of Denmark).
Susana receives the 2nd prize in the Mobility MSc Thesis competition

Susana del Busto, pre-doctoral researcher of SIMUMECAMAT, has been recently awarded the 2nd prize in the ThyssenKrupp Chair in Mobility Master Thesis competition. Her work, entitled Development and application of a cohesive zone model in the finite element method has been supervised by Emilio Martínez Pañeda and Covadonga Betegón.
Konstantinos Poulios PhD Seminar

Within the continuum mechanics and theory of structures seminars organized by professor Alfonso Fernández-Canteli, Konstantinos Poulios, from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), will give a talk entitled Finite Element Analysis of Fiber Micro-buckling in Unidirectionally Reinforced Composites by means of Homogenization. 32nd Meeting of the Spanish Group of Fracture

From the 27th to 29th of April, the XXXII Meeting of the Spanish Group of Fracture was held in Zamora (Spain). Several members of SIMUMECAMAT attended the event, which takes place every year, being a traditional meeting point for solid mechanics researchers from Spain and Portugal. This edition was particularly emblematic since Prof. Cristina Rodríguez received the honor medal of the Spanish Group of Fracture, in recognition of her long and successful research career.
